Top 3 of 2017 | My Best Beauty Discoveries

I’m almost late with this one, but there’s no way I wouldn’t share it with you, even if it was April. I really want to talk to you about the products that have changed my cosmetic life in 2017.

Last year I shared with you my top 5 of 2016, and this year I want to make sure that I only share with you the absolute best products I’ve discovered in 2017, la crème de la crème if you will.

Talking about cream, let me start with my absolute favourite day cream of 2017, the Shiseido Waso Clear Mega Hydrating Cream. This cream is so great that I’ve already dedicated an entire post to it (read it here) but it really deserves a place in the top 3 on top of that post.

This day cream is indeed very hydrating, there’s no doubt about that. My oily skin has been changing lately and shifting towards less oily and more dehydrated. Despite that fact, and even in the winter, this cream is hydrating enough that my skin feels comfortable all day long.

Like most of Shiseido products, this cream is very pleasant to use. Its thick gel consistency is fresh and feels extremely soft on the skin. Its very light fragrance is also very nice.

All that is, as per usual with Shiseido, stored in a lovely pot with clean lines and soft pastel colours. I love this cream so much because it’s a great experience from start to finish: The pot is aesthetically pleasing, the cream is comfortable to use and smells lovely, and to top it all off, it works wonders !

My second product is the next step in my routine and they work really well together, it’s the Nars Velvet Matte Foundation Stick. Just like with the cream, it was love at first sight. So much so that I also already did a whole post on it, with pictures (read it here).

I love this foundation so much that when I thought I’d ran out, I started scraping the inside of the stick in order to be able to use it longer. It’s now completely (absolutely and utterly) empty but I’m trying my hardest not to repurchase it right away because I need to finish my other foundations and if this one is in my drawer I’m not going to use anything else.

I love this foundation so much because you can’t tell it’s there. I don’t think that someone looking for a really high coverage foundation will like it. It’s a foundation that has a medium coverage and a completely natural finish. Once I’ve applied it with my beauty blender it’s completely undetectable. But my skin is unified and the small imperfections are hidden. And it stays that way all day. It will of course fade during really long days, but it doesn’t settle in fine lines or pores and I’m always quite happy with what I see when I look at myself in the mirror towards the end of the day.

The third product is one that has been talked about a lot throughout 2017. I was wondering if it could really be as good as everyone was saying so I decided to give it a go and ordered three of the Stila Magnificent Metals.

Now that I think about it, my order was completely stupid because I order the three most similar shades, but that’s all I regret because these glittery liquid eyeshadows are at least as good as everyone is saying !

I mean they’re so shiny people can probably seen them from the moon and they couldn’t be any easier to use. The packaging is a bit like that of a gloss with a doe foot applicator and I usually apply them straight onto my lids and blend with a finger or a brush.

Once the lid, they dry very quickly and then they don’t move. At all. I usually apply a transitional shade in the crease, and then apply the glitter on the lid to highlight the area. The result is always amazing ! (even if unfortunately my camera doesn’t manage to pick it up)

I ordered the shades Bronzed Bell, Rose Gold Retro (that’s the one I’m wearing below) and Kitten Karma. The only difference I could spot between the three is that Kitten Karma seems to have a slightly grittier texture and more fall out when you try to blend it. It’s not awful but it’s not quite as good as the other two.

So that’s about it for my favourite products from 2017. If you’re looking for a fantastic day cream, a foundation that’ll make you look like a more polished version of yourself or glitter that can be applied in two seconds and would make a unicorn jealous, I can only suggest that you follow my recommendations.

If you want more info on the Shiseido cream or the Nars foundation, I suggest that you go and have a read of my previous reviews on them (here and here) as I tried not to repeat what I’ve already said. And if you want to know more about the magnificent metals, drop your question in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer !

What about you, what are your absolute favourites from 2017 ?
