Gift Idea for a Lady | Elie Saab Le Parfum Edition Feuilles d’or

I rarely ever talk about perfume on the blog for two reasons: the first is that I can’t describe scents to save my life, and the second is that, more often than not, perfumes smell great on the little paper samples but change in contact with my skin and start to smell weird.

That being said, considering how rarely I talk about perfume, it’s the second time I’m talking about one of Elie Saab’s fragrances. I think that I get along particularly well with his scents. I’ve pretty much liked every single one I’ve smelled and so far not one of them has started smelling weird on me. Last time I was telling you all about his rose fragrance (read more about it here) and I still love it.

Today, however, we’re talking about this year’s Christmas limited edition, Elie Saab Le Parfum Edition Feuilles d’Or*.

If I wrote in my title that it was a gift idea for a woman, it’s because I find that it’s quite a mature fragrance. I really wouldn’t see a young person wearing it. I must admit that even at 26, I’m not sure I’m the intended public for this fragrance (though that might be because I’m still 16 in my head).

That being said, it’s not so mature that I absolutely don’t see myself wearing it. The proof is that I do wear it every now and then.

I’m going to try and describe the scent to you because I can’t do it and it won’t help you, but for me, this is a perfume I’d wear for a chic night out, with a little black dress (or while writing this post, slouched on my couch with an oversized cosy jumper on…)

As for the bottle, I find it quite pretty. The shape is almost the same as the other Elie Saab fragrances but it looks like it’s been dipped in liquid gold and the little leaves printed on the bottle can be seen through.

I don’t want to say that I would gift this to my mum, because my mum isn’t really a lady (not in that sense anyway, she likes fresher and lighter fragrances) but I’m pretty sure that my mother-in-law and my aunt would really like it. What’s most surprising though is that Mister really likes it on me.

So I’m going to keep my bottle for the next chic night outs when I’ll be able to wear a sophisticated little black dress. And I might even wear it to work, who knows…

Do you know this fragrance ? What are you getting your mum for Christmas ?
