A Sneak Peek Into Our Home | The Bathroom

Today I’m taking you on a little tour of our bathroom. We’ll step away from the world of the cosmetics for a little bit to talk about home decor. As you may know, we’ve recently moved into a new flat in Edinburgh.

When we moved it, the place was entirely white, that was two months ago and now we’re pretty much settled in. I’m even beginning to think that it looks pretty darn fantastic. So I’ve decided to create a little series here on the blog, to share with you my 3 favourite things in each room.

I don’t want to do a full tour of each room, but I’ll just give you a sneak peek of the things that I like the most around the flat.

We’ll go through almost every room, but let’s start with the bathroom.

The first thing I want to show you is this shelf.

We simply bought a piece of wood that still had some bark on in a DIY store as well as two wrought iron shelf braces. We rubbed the wood with oil to protect it again humidity and we use it to store our towels.

We chose this piece of wood because it adds warmth to the room. It’s not straight and it’s not perfect so I think that it’s a nice contrast with the rest of the bathroom that’s perfectly clean and white.

The second thing I want to talk to you about isn’t exactly a ‘home decor idea’, but I still want to share it with you.

I’ve always found that toothbrushes never look that nice. If you go shopping for toothbrushes, you can choose between, vibrant pink, apple green, bright blue or vidid yellow. I mean that’s not ‘pinterest’ at all !

Then came the wondrous Philips white and rose gold electric toothbrush. It’s the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Rose Gold*.

I recently talked about the hair dryer and the straightener from the same line (here) and we can see instantly that the design inspiration is the same. Beautiful and elegant.

There’s just one button that turns it on and off and allows you to choose between the 5 programs (Clean, White, Sensitive, Gum Care et Polish) and there’s no unsightly screen, the selected program just lights up. And when it’s off, you can’t even tell it’s there.

What’s more is the glass that comes with it. Well it’s not just a glass, it charges the toothbrush. Just by placing it in the glass. Like magic. Same goes for the pink travel box that can also be used to charge the toothbrush. Beautiful and convenient.

I mean, look at the picture below and tell me this toothbrush wasn’t made for our bathroom ?

Finally, in our bathroom, are our jellyfish that swim about and swing gently and graciously with every draught.

Aren’t they the cutest ?

We found this idea on the internet (obvs) and loved it. To make it was just as easy. We simply ordered some air plants (aka Tillandsia) as well as some sea urchin shells, then all you have to do is slide the plant gently into the shell and hang everything with some invisible string.

It doesn’t look quite as magical once explained, but it’s still lovely isn’t it ?

To water them is just as easy. You give them a bath once a week (twice during the summer technically it’s summer here but it’s 11°C so I guess they’ll be fine with one bath) and spray them with a water mister every now and then in between.

And that’s it for the sneak peek into our bathroom. What do you want to see next ? Bedroom ? Living room ?
