My go-to Summer Makeup Look with the Benefit Cheekathon Palette

Hello my Bunnies,

I’m back, a day later than expected (you actually couldn’t know but I wanted to post this yesterday) with my daily summer makeup look.

For me summer doesn’t exactly mean holidays or farniente. Indeed, when the weather becomes nicer, the life at the restaurant becomes busier and I end up working a lot more in the summer than throughout the rest of the year.

This also means that I have less free time and thus less time to do my makeup. However, as I see a lot of people, I want to look nice.

That’s how I came up with this quick, easy, summery and beautiful (if I do say so myself) makeup look.

I don’t necessarily use the exact same products every day, but I wanted to use my Cheekathon palette from Benefit in this post, because it’s one of my latest acquisitions, because I like it a lot and because it makes things even quicker and easier to have several products in the same palette.

But enough with the introduction and let’s get to the part where I actually use the makeup.

I start by applying my foundation and I use the Bourjois 1 2 3 Perfect foundation. I’ve been using it for several years now and it works well with my skin and offers a buildable coverage. Also, it doesn’t break me out.

I use very little of it at the moment (about 1 pump) and I apply it with my BeautyBlender. When I’m done you can still see my acne scars a little as well as the few freckles that I get in the summer but I like my foundation to be quite light so I don’t mind.

I’m really happy to see that I don’t need as much coverage as I used to (thanks to Dr Hauschka ! More on that later.) as less foundation is a lot more pleasant when it’s hot.

As I barely have any breakout at the moment (alleluia) I don’t really use concealer all over, I do however use the Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer under my eyes, down the bridge of the nose, and on my chin and forehead to add a bit of light.

I also use my Beautyblender to blend it.

I really like this product as it’s amazing at brightening everything up.

Once the base is done, I fix it and mattify everything with my trustee Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder.

Then it’s time to add a little colour to my cheeks, which I do in 1, 2 or 3 steps, depending on my mood and how much time I have.

For today’s post I’m doing all three steps, but when I don’t feel like it or don’t have enough time, I just apply bronzer on my cheeks and temples.

But today I started by applying Dallas from Benefit starting from the middle of the cheek (where the brush is on the picture above) and going towards the top of my ear.

As this shade is slightly redder than my usual bronzers, I like to use it on the cheeks.

I then used Hoola from Benefit and applied it on the perimeter of the face, in the shape of a 3, starting at the temple, going over Dallas, back towards the ear and down the jawline.

I find that this shades works better to warm up my whole complexion as it’s less pink than Dallas.

For the days when I’m using just one product, I go for Hoola or one of my three new bronzers (Which I talked about here) or the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess (reviewed here) which all work brilliantly to give a natural tan.

Finally for the cheeks, and this is a step that I don’t do everyday, I applied a bit of blush.

how to apply blush

Depending on my mood, I pick one of the three blushers in the Cheekathon palette (I haven’t used any other blusher lately). I choose rockateur on days when I want a bit of shimmer, Coralista when I want something brighter and Dandelion when I want a subtle touch of pink.

And that’s what I did today. Dandelion just adds a very discreet touch of pink to the cheek and definitely helps to make me look even more healthy.

I use the same brush for these last three steps to make things easier and quicker and at the moment my favourite is Too Faced’s Mr Right which is both super cute and really good.

Let’s do the eyes now, which is just as quick and easy as the face.

I start by applying my Mac paintpot in Groundwork all over the lid but insisting in the crease and outer corner with a fluffy brush like the Mac 217. Here I used the Zoeva 227.

This helps to define the eyes a little while still being very natural.

Then, things get less natural but still easy and summery with gold glitter applied on the inner corner and the centre of the lid.

To make things easier I use the same brush as previously, and I often go for the Chanel Illusion d’ombre in the shade 89 Vision as it offers a lot of glitter with close to no pigmentation which is exactly what I want.

The idea is to add a “discreet” touch of sparkle on the lid.

I then fill in and define my brows with any brow pencil I can find, and this morning it was the new Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in the shade 2.

I really like this pencil as it’s easy to use and lasts really well. The shade is also a very good match for my brows.

I then finish off my eyes with several coats of mascara. I’m trying out a bunch of new mascaras at the moment, unfortunately, none of them is wow-ing me.

Today I used the Estée Lauder Somptuous Knockout mascara which is good but doesn’t give quite enough volume for my liking.

Finally on my lips I’m wearing the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in the shade 10 (reviewed here) as it’s quick, easy and beautiful.

And here’s a close up of my face to finish this post on a terrifying note 😛

You may have gathered that the main ideas behind this makeup are simplicity and rapidity but at the moment, as I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup or spend a lot of time doing my makeup, it’s perfect !

And it does make me look like I’ve spent a few relaxing weeks in the sun whereas I’m the one bringing food and drinks to the peeps spending their holiday on our sunny terrasse.

What about you ? What’s your makeup like at the moment ?

    • Ooooh thank you ! <3

  • The photos in this post are stunning, great job dear! 🙂
What camera and lens do you use? I’m looking for a new one and haven’t made my mind up yet.

My everyday makeup during summer looks pretty much the same 😉 I’ll do a post on it soon, over the last two weeks in Norway I’ve even been skipping foundation every day.

My camera is a Nikon D5200 and the lens is a 50mm 1.8
It’s not the best out there but it’s pretty decent and it’s got a flip screen which is immensely helpful !

Oh I can’t wait to read your post then. I’m so nosy ^^
