My Travel Cosmetics for a Week in London & Edinburgh

travel-cosmetics

Hello my Bunnies,

At the moment I’m in Edinburgh !!! I’m writing from my hotel room =D I just spent 4 days in London and I’m spending the next four in Edinburgh.

I decided I wanted to show you what I brought with me in terms of cosmetics for this week long trip. I tried my best not to take too much but we can safely say that I sort of failed. #highmaintenance

I usually would post this kind of content before leaving but I didn’t have time, so I took my pictures in the middle of my trip, last night, in our Edinburgh hotel room and today I’m sharing it with you all.

I brought tree little bags with me, one for my makeup (the one with the bird) one for my brushes (the white one) and one for my skincare, body and hair care (the purple one with a plane).

It’s been a while since I entirely stopped travelling with full sizes and use minis and samples as the amount of space you save is massive !

I’m careful throughout the year to collect samples and it’s becoming increasingly easier to find minis of almost every single product out there.

For my hair, I had quite a few samples from Björn Axén that I got when I bought my products (which I talked about here) and I also had a mini phyto hair oil that I dumbed in London because it made my roots look greasy.

I also have a baby Colab dry shampoo that I buy in packs of 5 (here). They usually last me for a week which is perfect as I don’t have to bring them back.

For body, I’m using a sample of the Lush Honey I washed the kids solid soap. We don’t really get Lush samples in Switzerland but I got that one in France. The scent is a-ma-zing !

I don’t really put on moisturiser when I’m on holiday but I did pack a mini Verbena body lotion from L’Occitane just in case.

My deodorant is from borotalco. It smells waaaay too strong and contains aluminum but it’s small and never fails !

Finally my perfume is the famous molecule 01 from eccentric molecules which is more of a winter scent, but I looooove it and it’s quite compact.

In terms of skincare, I decided to use nothing other than my Dr Hauschka routine. I discovered the brand last week (I’m planning a more in-depth post about that) and I got convinced to try and use nothing else on my skin for a while to see if it would help my skin.

As I’m getting pretty bad breakouts at the moment, I decided to give it a go and I’ll be using nothing else on my skin for at least a month and a half.

I really like this routine because it’s very simple.

At night : removing makeup with the cleansing milk, cleansing with the cleansing cream, toning with the clarifying toner and treating with the night serum. And that’s it.

In the morning : cleansing with the cleansing cream, toning with the toner and treating with the clarifying day oil.

It’s only be a few days but I already love using these products. They’re quite different from everything else I’ve used so far but very pleasant. I won’t say more right now. I’ll have a more detailed post on that in about a month.

But I also took a mini Clarins makeup remover as the cleansing milk isn’t great with the mascara I’m using at the moment.

Now for the silly bit … so I have my minis and my samples to save room and then … I have my gigantic electric toothbrush. #whynoteh

But actually … bare with me. It’s not that stupid as I bought it here. On a whim. It was 50% off and it was pink.

Also my in-laws sort of swear by it so I thought it was the perfect time to give it a go.

And it was pink. I mean … come on !

(same goes for the giant toothpaste … forgot to look for a smaller one ^^)

Now for makeup brushes and other tools.

I took the Real Techniques duo fiber kit that I bought from  Cosmetics Obsession because I find that it’s the perfect kit.

I use the big brush for bronzer, the middle one for blush, contour and highlight, and the small one to blend eyeshadow in the crease. (they’re the 3 white brushes) As they’re duo fiber, they’re great to get a more natural finish but can also easily be used to build up the intensity.

I added the RT contour brush to my kit, which I haven’t used yet and the base shadow brush that I use to apply eyeshadow.

I also have my beauty blender to apply foundation, a pair of tweezers, a spoolie for my brows and a 3-in-1 pencil sharpener for my lip crayons (more on that after the next pic)

In terms of makeup … there’s a bit too much. But it could be a lot worse.

I brought my mattifying primer from MUFE in order for my makeup to last all day, my foundation is the Bourjois 1.2.3. Perfect because I know that my skin likes it, I also have my Estée Lauder concealer* (complete review here) for my imperfections and the Bourjois radiance reveal one as it’s great for brightening under the eyes. Finally, as per usual, I have my Soap & Glory one heck of a blot powder to set it all in place.

For cheeks I packed two palettes from Smashbox. The lightest shade of the contour palettes and the Malibu Berry L.A Lights blush palette to have 3 blushers to choose from. I really like these palettes because they’re very compact and good quality.

For the eyes I have my cosmic bronze palette from the Fleur de Force makeup range (you can find it here) which is incredibly long lasting and has beautiful neutral shades. My mascara is the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Knockout* and for my brows I brought the Soap & Glory archery 2-in-1 brow that has a gel on one side and a pencil on the other. I hope to finish it and leave it behind.

Finally for lips, I took my two Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in the shades Dragon Girl and Sex Machine. They’re really long-lasting, extremely comfortable and the shades are perfect !

And … “that’s it”.

Do you have any tips, tricks or habits when it comes to packing ?
