Lush Ro’s Argan | A Rose Scented Miracle

The best thing that happened to shower and body moisturisers !

I know, this is a very emphatic start to this article. But I mean it !

My first experiences with in-shower body moisturisers were quite awful, they left me just as dry but with a bonus rash… Great !

But that was before I tried Lush Ro’s Argan. At first I didn’t want to try it because of said past experiences but also because I thought that it was quite expensive. However, upon reading the 10th rave review I decided to give it a go.

So, what is it, how is it, what does it do, how does it work ..?

It’s a body conditioner, meaning that you use it just like you would a hair conditioner, on damp skin, after shower gel.

I was surprised to see that a little goes a very long way. You actually really don’t need a lot to do your whole body, it just glides on effortlessly. This means that it isn’t quite as expensive as I’d feared.

Once you’ve rubbed it all over your body you rinse it out and pat yourself dry (don’t drag otherwise it’ll all end up on your towel) and “tadaaa” you’re done, you can put on your clothes and go on with your day.

As well as hydration, it does leave a subtle delicious scent that will linger for a few hours (sadly not all day long).

What you need to know :
When you rinse it out, you will realise that your skin feels quite sticky, I don’t know what that is and it worried me the first few times but it really doesn’t last once you’re dry.
Also, if you have crocodile-type dry skin, it won’t be enough moisture for you. It has – in my opinion – a light to medium hydration level.

Added bonus: It gives your bathroom a fresh scent for the rest of the day and it also leaves your towel smelling lovely for days.

All in all it is a great product. It is very comfortable to use, gives a decent amount of hydration to your skin, smells heavenly and is really a time saver !

Do you know Ro’s Argan ? What do you think ?

Aerin Fragrances | Sophisticated, Simple, Splurge-Worthy

As promised in my last post about the launch of the new Aerin fragrances (here), today I’m going to talk to you about said fragrances.

The new Aerin line is made up of 5 fragrances, Gardenia Rattan, Amber Musk, Lilac Path, Ikat Jasmine and Evening Rose.

What I really like about this collection is that they are simple fragrances. You can actually put a name on what you’re smelling (rose, jasmine, lilac).

However, each perfume is made up of more than one scent which makes them more complex and gives them a bit more depth.

What’s important to know is that each fragrance has a story behind it. Each scent is actually a memory for Aerin of a particular time in her life and the same thing goes for the design on the boxes. This makes each fragrance all the more special.

I would say that these fragrances are more for grown-ups as they’re quite sophisticated, they’re not exactly young scents, if you know what I mean.

At first, I thought they might be overpowering but it isn’t the case at all, they fade smoothly throughout the day but do stay present all day long.

Gardenia Rattan is the summer fragrance with its floral and sea notes, Amber Musk is the one for winter, very warm, Lilac Path represents spring that Aerin wanted to capture, Ikat Jasmine is the fragrance for the modern woman and Evening Rose is the perfume for a special night.

My favourite is Evening Rose*, I like the scent of roses that’s here paired with cognac which adds depth and a bit of sweetness to it. I like to wear a spritz on each wrist and one at the back of my neck and smell it with every move. I’ve been wearing it everyday since I got it.

All in all I like the entire collection, it was really hard to pick just one favourite so I’d strongly suggest going and smelling them.

The boxes are also gorgeous and the bottles look and feel very luxurious. With Mother’s day coming up (10th of may) I cannot recommend you enough to go and have a sniff at Globus where they are exclusively available in Switzerland for 139.-

Have you had a chance to smell these ? What other idea do you have for Mother’s day ?

My First Event | Aerin Fragrances Launch

© press picture given by the brand
On Monday, I attended my first event as a blogger.
I was invited to the launch of the new Aerin fragrances, Estée Lauder’s grand-daughter, at Globus in Geneva.
What started off as a terrible succession of mistakes ended up being a very exciting late afternoon. Let’s start with the funny part (i.e with everything that went wrong) and then I’ll move onto the magical part.
I was a bit nervous so I had planned on doing everything to look my best – that way I could just smile and stand pretty in case I didn’t have anything smart to say – but it all started going wrong as soon as I grabbed my curling iron.
As I was trying to tame my mane, I burnt my forehead with my curling iron, a nice big burn above my right eyebrow, then I completely messed up my manicure and had to take it all off for lack of time. At this point it wasn’t too bad but it was already a bit upsetting.
Then, as I was walking/running to the train station I realised that I had forgotten my contacts (I don’t like my face with my glasses on) and when I was stepping into the train that I had forgotten my business cards as well (such professionalism).
As I was going from one train to another, I tried to put things into perspective : It’s not that bad, I don’t look that horrible with my glasses on, my fringe can hide the burn and I have 3 business cards in my purse, everything is going to be alright. Plus I had all the makeup I needed in my bag to improve my appearance on the train (anyone else likes to do their makeup on the train ?!)
But actually I didn’t. I had forgotten that as well. All I had was a Bourjois concealer, a By Terry eyeshadow stick and a Clinique chubby stick (does lips and cheeks) with which I sort of managed to create a somewhat decent emergency look. The one time my messy nature saved me (or the nasty habit of having random beauty products hanging at the bottom of my bag…)
When I arrived in Geneva I ran to buy a mascara (helloooo Maybelline sensational – this little number is fantastic) and I finally arrived where the event took place with very minimal makeup, messy hair (it was so windy), a bit sweaty because I was late and trembling with nervousness.
But that’s when it started being amazing ! I was welcomed with a glass of champagne and fancy, delicious amuse-bouche, the presentation of the fragrances was very interesting and when we were well acquainted with all 5 scents we started decorating cupcakes that the Royaume Melazic had provided with everything needed to let our creativity flow with flavours and colours that matched the fragrances. It was magical !
It felt like a dream, I really had an incredible time !
I want to thank the PR manager at Estée Lauder for inviting me, all the people present for their warm welcome of a slightly disheveled and nervous young blogger as well as the Royaume Melazic for their amazing job with the delicious cupcakes.
The fragrances are amazing too, but I want to dedicate a whole post to them that’ll be published this weekend as this one is already quite long.
I’ll leave you with a few pictures of the event :

Sémaphore’s New Friends

Up here is reason number 1 why I’ve been awfully quiet on the blog this week, down below is reason number 2.

You probably remember Sémaphore, whom I introduced last week (here), well bunnies are sociable creatures so we wanted to give him some friends to play and cuddle with.

These two terribly cute ladies have thus been welcomed in our home. They don’t have names yet but they only just arrived and we’re studying their personality to find the best names.

So what I’m saying is that I didn’t post anything on the blog this week because I was too busy playing with these two fluff balls. Whoops

This means that you may see more than one bunny appear on my pics in the future (and the occasional turtle ;))

Hope you all had a nice week and a great sunday !

The Best Brownies Ever (Approved by Caroline)

Hello everybody,

It’s been a quiet week on the blog, I’ll explain why tomorrow.

In the meantime, I want to share with you what I found to be the best pecan nuts brownie recipe, ever.

You will need :

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 50g butter
  • 150g sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 100g pecan nuts (or other nuts if you prefer, or no nuts)
  • 75g flour
Preheat your oven at 180°C.
Melt the chocolate and the butter together and leave aside to cool a little while you beat the sugar, the salt and the eggs together.
When the sugar egg mixture starts to whiten, add in the melted chocolate and butter and mix together. Then add in the nuts broken in little pieces and the flour.
When it’s all well combined, place the mixture in a greased and floured ovenproof dish (it should be about an inch thick) and bake for 35 minutes.
Leave to cool for about 5 minutes, cut the brownies in the dish and leave to cool completely before removing them from the dish (or don’t and enjoy them while they’re still warm and delicious =D)
I’ll leave you with this picture that is worth a thousand words.
Caroline smelled the brownies from the other side of the living room and ran (as fast as a turtle can) towards the brownies while I was taking the pictures and this happened:

Don’t worry, I didn’t let her eat it, I gave her lettuce instead and she was thrilled.
But if these brownies had her running all the way across the living room I’m pretty sure this means that they’re worth giving this recipe a go.
And you, do you like brownies ?
